So Little Land So Little Time

Here’s the last property we went and took a look see around on last week. Looks nice eh? But, alas, there were some big detractors with this one. So (sigh), I’m afraid it’s a no go on this one.

There we were, all geared up to make an offer on the piece of land I reported on in my blog post from last weekend - the one with all the creepy/also-kinda-friendly dolls on it - when our realtor reported that an offer had already been made and accepted. So, yet another one bites the dust.

Time is running out. Summer’s are short here in the north country forestland. In order to account for the time it will take us to sell our house here in Missoula; close on the sale; move out; and set ourselves up on a bare piece of land with no structures or services before the temps drop, we’ll need to find some ground right quick at this point in the season.

With how little there is on the market right now in our price range and within the radius of Missoula we’re interested in, it’s very likely we’ll need to put a pin in our land search until next spring. But we are still actively looking. And who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky.

Another possible idea we are entertaining is that we keep alive our land search through the rest of the summer, figuring that if we DO find a property to buy we can head south for the winter and return in the spring in order to get set up and build our dwelling place.

So them there’s the short of it, friends. Another week has gone by. Another property bites the dust. And the search continues.
